The Ontario Finnish Resthome is a multi-level care, seniors’ residential community comprised of four sites that provide accommodation, care and other supportive services for the health and welfare of aged persons. We are currently recruiting for a permanent, full-time Assistant Director of Care, reporting to the Executive Director of Care.

Qualifications

  • Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario and current PLP.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the nursing profession.
  • Strong working knowledge and proficiency in relevant computer applications (i.e.  Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, nursing care plan software applications, etc.)
  • Leadership/supervisory experience and extensive knowledge of care requirements for seniors in long-term care settings.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team building, interpersonal, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Fully Vaccinated with approved COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Ability to communicate in the Finnish and/or Estonian language is an asset. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to address any day to day operational issues requiring management intervention at the MKK LTCH
  • Conducts formalized annual department-specific or employee-specific assessments relating to staff performance management / Pas of LTCH Nursing Services staff as required.
  • Oversees and delegates Staff Education Program – Surge Learning Program:
  • Facilitates, coordinates and /or oversees mandated education / training for Nursing and Program and & Support Services & OFRA Staff which are consistent with identified learning needs and MOHLTC / MOL standards according to Standard and expectations.
  • Participates in the Hiring and Orientation Program of new staff.
  • Oversees RAI MDS submission done by RAI Team and signs documents as assessed. 
  • Oversees BSO Program / submission and signs documents as assessed.
  • Ensures that the Staff Health Nurse files are kept confidential and available when needed
  • Oversees and delegates CQI items to all MKK LTCH staff – ensures Audits are completed.
  • Replaces EDOC when needed & delegates duties as appropriate to registered staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by EDOC.
