We invite applications for a motivated, caring, and dynamic School Nurse. This is a contract position beginning December 2021 to June 2022.

Candidates must have the following qualifications and qualities:

  • Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Valid Standard First-Aid and CPR
  • Experience in an education setting is preferred
  • Supportive of the Catholic teachings in our school
  • As a condition of employment, mandatory proof of vaccination, and a valid vulnerable sector screening is required.  

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Support delivery of programs to promote student health and well-being
  2. Anticipates, recognizes, and responds to rapidly changing health including COVID-19 situations
  3. Support implementation and review of COVID-19 infection prevention and control protocols
  4. Administer care, first aid and ongoing support for students or staff experiencing illness or injury and oversee medication administration within the licenced scope of practice
  5. Completes incident reports and maintains student health records and supervises daily screening procedures by students, staff and visitors
  6. Oversee the prevalent medical condition plans and medications for students (e.g., anaphylaxis, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy)
  7. Primary contact with parents, staff (teaching and non-teaching), students and outside agencies (i.e. York Region Public Health) regarding health and safety issues
  8. Maintain medical documentation in a safe and secure manner
  9. Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the health room by ensuring there is a stock of supplies and maintaining first aid supplies/defibrillators
  10. Work closely with the Health & Physical Education Department in heath curriculum development and instruction
  11. Work closely with student attendance team and human resources to help remain up to date with student and staff health issues.
  12. Educate the community regarding best practices relating to communicable diseases as well as overall health and wellness.
  13. Provide counselling to students, faculty, staff and parents for physical and mental health concerns.
  14. Support the Operations Team in the development and review of health and safety plans and policies
  15.  Other duties as required
