Purpose
Ambulatory Care is an outpatient department at the Sault Area Hospital which provides service to patients with varying needs such as care in the areas of: urology, minor procedures and surgery, orthopedics, medication administration, transfusion services, and pre / post-operative care and education.
Duties
Nurses will be selected on the basis of their skill, ability, experience and qualifications as identified in the resume which they have attached to the posting application form. The Hospital reserves the right to conduct a formal interview and/or testing where required.

Duties
- Provide nursing care in accordance with the College of Nurses, organizational and unit standards.
- Participate and collaborate with other health care providers in provision of patient care.
- Responsible for making clinical decisions, exercising judgment to ensure best possible nursing care is provided within available resources.
- Provide health teaching to patients and family.
- Is cognizant of and participates in the development of the Nursing and Unit objectives.
- Is compliant with legislation, organizational/departmental, regulations, standards and procedures related to occupational health and safety
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Minimum 1 year recent related experience
- Demonstrated clinical competency in the care and management of patients requiring:
- Urology procedures, including BCG treatments, assisting with cystoscopy procedures, and performing difficult catheterizations
- Wound care
- Surgical procedures, including aseptic technique
- Minimally invasive medical procedures
- Orthopedic care, including cast care
- Pre and post-operative assessment, care and education
- IV therapy competency, inclusive of central lines.
- Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment.
- Proficient in Meditech
- Excellent oral and written communication and organization skills.
- Demonstrated ability to function efficiently in a fast paced clinical setting.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve and work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner, both in person and on the telephone; tact, courtesy and alertness in public contacts.
