Job Title: Registered Nurse

Status: Regular Full Time

Department: Paediatrics, LHAP

Program: Women & Childrens Healthcare

Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends - 12 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change)

Location: Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering

Wage Schedule: $39.070 - $56 per hour

Duties & Responsibilities

To use nursing process in providing patient care. To participate as a member of the Health Care Team and the Nursing Team. As an individual practitioner, to maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice. To maintain nursing records and function as a member of a Multidisciplinary team. To perform other related duties as assigned. Cross-training to NICU required

Qualifications

  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);
  • Current BCLS required
  • Current PALS certification preferred or commitment to be certified/recertified within 6 months of hire
  • Demonstrated experience with Paediatric medical/surgical required;
  • Proven Paediatric skills with; IV initiation and capillary blood collection, proficiency with advanced oxygen delivery systems and NG/G-tubes required;
  • Knowledge of Paediatric pathophysiology, especially related to medically complex child and developmental needs of children age newborn-18 years old required;
  • Sound knowledge and application of nursing skills as listed in the CNO;
  • B.Sc.N required;
  • Demonstrated effective organizational, problem-solving and teaching skills;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Sound judgement, good observation and patient assessment skills, tact and empathy;
  • Able to perform appropriately in emergency situations;
  • Able to lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids;
  • Able to assume a leadership/supervisory role;

  • Must have a satisfactory performance record;
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area

Conditions Of Employment

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).

Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
