Position Information

Temporary position until approximately June 07, 2025.

Rotation/Shifts

Days and evenings, including weekends, 8 hour shifts.

Basic Requirements

  • Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Three (3) months recent experience in Hemodialysis;
  • Three (3) months recent experience in Peritoneal Dialysis;
  • Three (3) months recent experience in Nephrology;
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles of peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis;
  • Demonstrates theoretical knowledge in Nephrology;
  • Demonstrates ability to assess learning needs of patients, to plan and implement appropriate teaching;
  • Demonstrates ability to prepare and present educational material;
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to liaise with community agencies and with The Ottawa Hospital's inpatient/outpatient areas;
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to provide patient supporting care and teaching in a community/home setting;
  • Demonstrates interpersonal, problem solving, case management, independent practice and critical thinking skills;
  • Able to apply the continuous quality improvement approach to ensure quality care;
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle;
  • Demonstrates ability to efficiently and effectively transition skills and practice between Clinic/Unit and community settings;
  • Proficiency in computer applications;
  • Eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in nursing;
  • Certificate in Nephrology Nursing;
  • Previous experience in patient and/or adult education;
  • Experience in NephroCare, Word and Excel;
  • Proficiency in English and French - oral expression (advanced level and comprehension (advanced level).
