Job Description
Reporting to the Vice President Digital Health and CIO, the Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) will be responsible for driving change for nursing and allied staff through the implementation of William Osler's new Hospital Information System.
The CNIO will serve as the strategic liaison for digital health initiatives that have significant organizational change. The CNIO will use their clinical workflow knowledge to help establish strategy in digital health for the use of technology, data, and evidence-based information systems to support quality patient care and professional practice. The CNIO will foster a culture of innovation and adaptability, motivating clinical programs to embrace transformation to improve care at the bedside.

Accountabilities:
- In partnership with the VP & CIO of Digital Health, CMIO and AVP of HIS, provide leadership and oversight for the development, implementation and adoption of the Hospital Information System and associated digital tools
- Acts as a change agent in the identification, development, planning, implementation, and value measurement of informatics strategies to support high quality patient care and professional practice
- Serves as the strategic liaison for IT efforts representing nursing, allied and patient care team needs.
- In collaboration with CMIO, combines knowledge of patient care, informatics concepts and change management to effectively address the information and knowledge needs of healthcare professionals and patients to promote safe, effective, and efficient use of health IT in clinical settings.
- With the CIO, CMIO and AVP of the HIS, works with vendors to proactively strategize on development and/or enhancement of clinical information solutions to meet organizational and patient care needs
- Develops integrated clinical systems strategies in collaboration with other senior nursing/clinical and operational leaders, that supports the growth of the organization
- Incorporates nursing and allied professionals research and evidence-based knowledge into informatics practice
- Maintains relationships with key business partners and other industry leaders to leverage best practices, evaluate and promote emerging technologies, and distribute knowledge internally to inform plans and strategies
- Chairs relevant organizational and project committees as required and participates as a representative on committees and serves as the Practice/Clinical Informatics subject matter expert
- In collaboration with the CMIO, advance the practice and profile of the hospital information system and digital strategies at William Osler by participating on relevant local, regional, and provincial digital health advisory committees
- Combines knowledge of patient care, informatics concepts and change management to effectively address the information and knowledge needs of healthcare professionals and patients to promote safe, effective and efficient use of health IT in clinical settings.
- Defines HIS requirements for nursing and other health disciplines as they relate to the strategic plan.
