Job description
The Director, Surgical and Ambulatory Care Services, is responsible for the strategic and operational management of Surgical and Ambulatory Services to ensure effective delivery of outcomes that are aligned with the corporate strategic plan for Osler.
Working in close collaboration with the Chief of Surgery, Chief of Anesthesia and other members of the management team, the Director provides leadership in the development and implementation of strategies to ensure delivery of efficient, safe and high-quality health care to the patients.
The Director will play a key role as an influential expert liaising with the clinical leaders across the organization to enable consistent, high standards of evidence-based care for the client/patient population. The Director will establish the operational framework and infrastructure for program planning, implementation and evaluation, and ensures effective, safe delivery of care, development and establishment of processes. In addition to daily program oversight, the Director will ensure the delivery of several initiatives designed to yield high quality care for patients and their families.
Accountabilities:
- Develop the business strategy and key metrics for this Program with a growth mindset as it relates to partnerships, service planning and clinical excellence with a broader community engaged model in mind
- Advance the profile of the Surgical Services by strengthening collaboration with both internal and external community partners
- Provide leadership to guide ongoing continuous performance improvement and program efficiencies
- Develop and empower a cohesive and collaborative team that is service-driven and focused on establishing an exceptional patient care experience
- Play a leadership role in developing strategies related to growth opportunities across the region
Job qualifications
- Must be a regulated health care processional with a Master’s degree in nursing (or in progress) or in a health-related discipline
- Five to seven years progressive leadership experience in a hospital or related health care environment, which must include five years of experience in a management/leadership role
- Knowledge of Lean methodology
- Demonstrated experience and application of evidence-based practices in leadership
- Knowledge of strategic and operational planning, management principles and research-based practices
- Knowledge of quality improvement, financial practices and risk management principles
- Demonstrated strong financial and analytical skills
- Demonstrated leadership, communication and interpersonal skills that can be employed in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders
- History of building constructive and effective relationships and gaining credibility across disciplines, divisions, departments and programs
- Must demonstrate Osler Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and Collaboration
