The Health and Wellness Manager reports to the General Manager of the home and is responsible for providing direction to the nursing team in regard to the overall day-to-day delivery of healthcare operations, ensuring that the healthcare services comply with the Retirement Homes Act (RHA) and other relevant legislation.

The Health and Wellness Manager reports to the General Manager of the home and is responsible for providing direction to the nursing team in regard to the overall day-to-day delivery of healthcare operations, ensuring that the healthcare services comply with the Retirement Homes Act (RHA) and other relevant legislation.
Responsibilities:
- Provides a cheerful and energetic environment for the nursing team that supports growth and development,
- Ensures all residents receive care and services according to their needs by ensuring each resident has an up-to-date care plan that is adhered to,
- Actively participates in the scheduling of care staff to ensure adequate staffing coverage at all times
- Reviews and participates in the processing of care staff payroll
- Monitors the quality of nursing services and administers long-term strategic plans for nursing,
- Ensures risk management process is adhered to by reviewing staff and resident incident reports, monthly indicators,
- Inspires others to be motivated and work with a passion and empowers staff,
- Ensures the nursing team works in a safe workplace environment through the implementation of safe work practices and service guidelines,
- Recommends and participates in the termination of nursing staff according to facility policies, procedures and collective agreements,
- Ensures appropriate documentation and maintenance of records, including resident health records, personnel records etc.,
- Delegates clinical and managerial responsibilities as well as provide direction and leadership,
- Maintains open communication at all levels,
- Assists with the development of succession plans and identify employees with growth potential for development,
- Presents a positive approach, not controlling language and actions towards people,
- Any and all other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
The qualifications needed to join our family are as follows:
- A positive mindset, as well as a connection with our values,
- Ability to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices as they relate to RHRA,
- Must have demonstrated sound skills and knowledge of providing person-centred care in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures of the Retirement Homes Act and other applicable legislation,
- Knowledgeable of the Residents' Bill of Rights and respects and promotes these rights,
- Effective communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively is essential,
- Effective customer service skills and a demonstrated commitment to working with seniors are required,
- Registered Practical Nurse with a current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing and without restrictions on your license.
- Familiar with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act,
- Human resources and labour relations experience preferred.
- 3 - 5 years of leadership roles in the senior housing industry preferred,
- Demonstrated ability to meet professional clinical infection protocols,
- Ability to deal with responsive behaviour,
- Is inspirational and passionate about quality care and capturing positive moments,
- Ability to embrace various skills from the team to maximize the potential to enhance the well-being of all individuals,
- Basic computer skills are a must,
- Demonstrated commitment to learning and continuous improvement,
- Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB results in less than 6 months, evidence of flu shot must be able to provide three work references.
