This Opportunity:
We are currently looking to fill a Part Time Position as PSW/Support Service Attendant/ role in in our Northeast region - Blind River. Less than 30 hours per week.
Starting wage is $22.52 per hour. This position already includes the $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients (starting $19.52).
Valid drivers licence, proof of insurance, and reliable vehicle required.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Assists consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:
- Personal care
- Lifts and Transfers
- Rising/retiring
- Bowel and bladder procedures
- Meal preparation and feeding
- Range of motion exercises
- Other light housekeeping duties
- Performs duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.
March of Dimes Canada provides 24-hour attendant care to its clients. Support Services Attendants work a variety of shifts (i.e., weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays) that vary between locations.
Qualifications and experience:
- Grade 12 Diploma is a requirement and/or PSW certificate
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain within 3 months of employment
- Experience working with people with physical disabilities, experience/knowledge/understanding of Independent Living, or Client based care
- Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care duties
- Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, including de-escalation techniques
- Physical Demands Self Analysis Required upon hire
- Professionalism in dealing with team members and other service providers
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
- Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
- Valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation REQUIRED
