Reporting to the Interim Director, the Nurse Manager is responsible for effective, efficient, and safe patient care services while managing human and environmental resources for the operating room and PAR. As the Nurse Manager, you are responsible for the clinical practice of all professional staff (RN's and LPN/RPN's), and ancillary support staff for the OR, Pre/PAR, and MDR. The Clinical Nurse Manager will act in accordance with the accreditation Canada standards and scope of practice pertaining to the peri-operative patient as well as the facility policy and procedures. This individual must possess the education, skills, knowledge, and experience to assess, treat and teach patients undergoing a variety and combination of operative procedures. The Nurse Manager must demonstrate a professional and caring approach in dealing with patients, colleagues and supervisors and possess critical thinking and assessment skills.
This is a dual role balancing both clinical nursing duties and management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures and with the mission and vision of CHN
- Clinical resource for perioperative services team members using evidence-based knowledge and prevailing standards
- Coordinate or oversee efficient allocation of clinical resources such as staff, equipment, and operating room time.
- Manage surgical schedules to optimize slate utilization while balancing staff workloads.
- Evaluates current practice through quality and performance improvement measures
- Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team, PAR team and non-clinical team members
- Coordinates, facilitates, and manages change within the facility
- Operationally and fiscally manages the perioperative services of the department
- Initiates and leads the interviews for team member selection and in evaluating team members
- Assists with the orientation and support of new team members and the on-going compliance
- Management and development of Clinical P&P Manual including implementation and evaluation of Infection Control and Best Practice policies
- Protects patients and team members by adhering to infection control policies, medication administration and storage procedures and controlled substances regulations
- Participate cooperatively and communicates effectively with team members using daily huddles and continuous rounding
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional societies
- Lead a dynamic multidisciplinary team environment, which promotes and encourages participation by all staff, at all levels in the planning, organization and delivery of programs and services
Education Requirements:
- Graduate of a recognized Nursing Program, Bachelor's and Master's degree program is preferred
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN), in good standing with the provincial regulatory body/college of nurses
- Completion of an accredited peri-operative nursing program a requirement with 3-5 years in the intra-operative environment
- BCLS/ACLS Certified
- General computer proficiency, including the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Experience:
- 8-10 years working in a perioperative clinical setting, with a demonstrated history of increasing responsibilities and complexity of role
- A minimum 5 years of formal leadership, with a demonstrated ability to lead high performing multidisciplinary teams in a clinical setting
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

- Knowledge of applicable legislation, current nursing and healthcare practices; demonstrates concern and interest in providing quality care and service
- Current knowledge of clinical issues for surgical patients, infection control, principles of adult education and quality improvement
- Ability to travel infrequently
