POSITION SUMMARY

Our client is one of the few stand-alone, global leaders in Pediatric Health and is home to over 400+ staff and Physicians dedicated to helping children and youth live their best lives. The are currently looking for Registered Nurse (RN) to offer mental health nursing as part of the multidisciplinary Consultation Liaison team.

Services will include consultation, assessments and treatment of both medical inpatient and outpatients who have present with a mental health issue. Embedded in the position are duties related to hospital-wide suicide risk screening and support. Weekend and evening work will be a requirement of this position.

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Provide mental health nursing to medical patients referred to the Consultation Liaison (CL) team Consultation and treatment services for medical inpatient and outpatients who present with mental health issues
  • Support the hospital-wide suicide risk screening projects
  • Provide nursing information and coaching to nursing staff regarding suicide prevention
  • Provide appropriate information and support to patients and families regarding suicide prevention
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients,
  • Participation in the development and implementation of programming
  • Offer mentoring experience to students and new staff
  • Other mental health duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check (PRC) (Essential)
  • Current College of Nurses registration (Essential)
  • Current CPR (Essential)
  • B.Sc. Nursing (Essential)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mental health nursing (Essential)
  • Certificate in Mental Health Nursing (Preferred)
  • Experience in crisis intervention, short-term interventions and evidence-base treatment (Essential)
  • Experience with knowledge translation, specifically related to suicide prevention (Preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other health professionals (Essential)
  • Knowledge of mental health legislation, mental health treatment modalities, short-term interventions and experience with suicide prevention, suicide risk assessment and intervention (Essential)
  • Knowledge of crisis and suicide support services and agencies with Ottawa and eastern Ontario (Preferred)
  • Bilingual (Fluency in both French and English) (Preferred)
