Nurse Clinician Scientist
Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing
The Faculty of Health Sciences at Western University, Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing and the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) invite applications for a Nurse Clinician Scientist appointment, effective November 1, 2024 or as negotiated. This appointment will be a 2-year externally-funded faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The workload for the Clinician Scientist is 20% teaching, 40% research (including scholarly inquiry at LHSC), 20% clinical practice impact activities at LHSC and 20% service. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s educational qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will be a nurse, currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario who holds a PhD in Nursing or a related field. Completion of a period of mentored research training (e.g., postdoctoral fellowship) and at least 5 years of clinical nursing experience is preferred. This position offers a unique blend of academic and practice-based scholarly inquiry for candidates who seek to make contributions in both university and clinical environments. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated engagement and collaboration with all levels and members of an interprofessional team, research team, and external stakeholders. Further, candidates will have knowledge and skill in organizational mobilization for research and practice-based scholarly inquiry, change leadership, integrating and translating research into meaningful information and developing innovative solutions to patient care. The successful candidate will develop a focussed and productive independent research program which addresses important clinical concepts relevant to the shared priorities of Western University and London Health Sciences Centre, leading to the integration of research, teaching, and clinical care that optimizes health outcomes for patients and their families.
The leading-edge Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing has over a 100-year history of academic and research excellence. The School is one of seven in a progressive Faculty of Health Sciences and offers academic programs in nursing at undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels.
