Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Hudsons Hope Health Centre.
Under the general supervision of the Site Administrator of the Houston Health Centre and the clinical direction of the Director of Nursing for the East Cluster, provides nursing care for patients on an emergency, day care and ambulatory basis. Provides nursing intervention patient care. Works required shift rotations. Assist emergency health services with the transfer of patients to referral hospitals. Provide necessary statistical data and documentation. Maintain inventory for the department. Assist in liaison with other health service providers within the Northern Health Authority.
Rural Emergency Training Program - UNBC Nurs 455/451
There are 1 training positions available for 2024/2025
• Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as required
• Learners should expect to make a 4 - 8 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learning
• Additional study time, outside of scheduled hours, may be required to successfully complete the program
• Flexibility for practicums is necessary
• Applicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the department
• Upon successful completion of the education program, Northern Health requires an eighteen (18) month return of service in a regular position in the area of nursing applicable to the education program.
• Qualified applicants will be considered first for specialty positions. If there are no qualified applicants, training lines will be awarded to unqualified applicants and training will be provided

Hudson's Hope Health Centre has an excellent health facility that serves a population of about 1,159 with an average of 800 ER visits per year. The clinic offers a range of services including:
• Primary Care
• Palliative Care
• Home and Community Care
• Laboratory
• X-ray
• Pharmacy
• Dental Clinic
Hudson's Hope is located on the banks of the Peace River in the Rocky Mountain foothills of British Columbia, 90 km west of Fort St. John and 66 km north of Chetwynd on Highway 29. A uniquely progressive and safe community, Hudson's Hope is the third oldest European community in British Columbia. The area is one of the richest sites of fossils and dinosaur footprints in the world. The Hudson's Hope Museum fossil display is the finest collection in the Peace River area. Qualfications
• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
• CPR and ACLS Certification.
• Post basic training and/or one year recent related clinical experience in a critical care area or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the health centre.
Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to organize assigned workload and set priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to start IV's.
• Ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts including coworkers, physicians, community agencies representatives, patients, and families.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
