Position: Retirement Home Manager - Registered Practical Nurse

RETIREMENT HOME MANAGER

The Retirement Home Manager is responsible for overseeing the general operations of the Retirement Community while working in collaboration with the Executive Director to provide services to the residents and represent the Home in the community. Candidates are invited to apply for the above full-time position to work at our 51 bed Retirement Community located in Thornbury, Ontario.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work closely with Nursing Staff, the Leadership Team and other members of the interdisciplinary team to provide supportive care for Retirement Residents
  • Must have a good understanding of Retirement Living and the senior population
  • Must have understanding of the Retirement Home Regulatory Authority standards
  • Identifying and implementing action plans to assist in resolving complaints and concerns.
  • Facilitating partnership with families, staff and other agencies. Understanding the importance of Customer Service with these partners and have the ability to recognize potential challenges and resolve in a productive and professional manner.
  • To be a positive and energetic representative for the home and market for potential new Residents within the local area
  • Plan, implement and facilitate community outreach initiatives to maintain Community links and services for Residents
  • To bring a fresh innovative perspective on Resident Programming and Marketing Strategies
  • Establish and maintain relationships with various community stakeholders by attending community meetings and events
  • Provide informative tours to prospects and follow up with leads accordingly in a timely manner to increase occupancy levels
  • Will be responsible for managing 8 staff, which will include scheduling, payroll and other administrative functions such as A/P and A/R.
  • To be familiar with Unionized environments and working within Collective Agreements
  • Contribute to budget planning, monitor overall budget and be accountable to financial standing of the home in collaboration with the Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Registration with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario
  • 2-3 years' experience in a Retirement setting preferred
  • Superb organizational, time management and multi- tasking skills
  • Knowledge of the Retirement Home Regulatory Authority legislation is required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Resident advocate - focused attitude, with high emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with residents, families, staff and stakeholders.
  • Marketing and sales experience is required.
