Adult Day Schools in the Toronto District School Board offer high school credits to adult learners (age 21 and over) each year.  Courses in the Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program are offered in-person from the Adult Day School campus.  Experiential Learning portions of the courses take place in long term care facilities and other community partner sites.

Positions and Requirements:

Burnhamthorpe Adult Learning Centre

 

Three teachers (full-time) are required for the Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program, to teach:

 

Health Care                                                           Grade 11, College (TPJ3C) Science                                                                 Grade 10, Academic (SNC2D1) Child Development and Gerontology                    Grade 12, College (TOJ4C)

 

Two work placement teachers (full-time) are required for the Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program, creating opportunities through Co-op:

                 

 

  • Health Care                                                           Grade 11, College (TPJ3C) Science                                                                 Grade 10, Academic (SNC2D) Child Development and Gerontology                    Grade 12, College (TOJ4C)

 

            Three Clinical supervisors (part-time) for the Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program:

 

 

 

  • Science                                                                 Grade 10, Academic (SNC2D) Health Care                                                           Grade 11, College (TPJ3C) Health Care:  Support Services                            Grade 12, Workplace (TPJ4E) Child Development and Gerontology                    Grade 12, College (TOJ4C)

 

 

 

Qualifications:  A qualified teacher who is a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the College of Nurses.  Clinical placement supervisory experience required. Up-to-date CPR (HCP) and standard first aid are required.  Co-operative Education experience is an asset. 

 

 

City Adult Learning Centre

 

Five teachers are required for the Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program, to teach and/or provide clinical supervision for the following Health Care Technological courses:

 

 

  • Health Care                                                    Grade 10, Open (TPJ20) Health Care                                                     Grade 11, College (TPJ3C) Health Care:  Support Services                      Grade 12, Workplace (TPJ4E) Child Development and Gerontology              Grade 12, College (TOJ4C) Healthcare Support Services                          Grade 12, Workplace (TPJ4E) Clinical Placement (experiential learning*) will be included as part of the TPJ4E and TOJ4C courses   

Qualifications:  A qualified teacher who is a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the College of Nurses.  Clinical placement supervisory experience required. Up-to-date CPR (HCP) and standard first aid are required.  Co-operative Education experience is an asset. 

 

 

 

  Yorkdale Adult Learning Centre

 

One teacher for the co-operative education Childcare Assistant Program for an OYAP eligible childcare assistant workplace training program.

 

  • Child Development and Gerontology:  Child Development    Grade 12, College (TOC4C) Child Development and Gerontology                                      Grade 12, College (TOJ4C) Exploring Health Care: Workplace Preparation                     Grade 12, Open (TPJ4E1) 

 

 

Qualifications:  A qualified teacher who is ECE certified, teaching, daycare supervisory and cooperative education experience is required.

 

 

 

One Part-time Hairstyling teacher for the following:

Qualifications:  A qualified teacher who is an RN or RPN in good standing with the College of Nurses.  Clinical placement supervisory experience required. Up-to-date CPR (HCP), standard first aid, and immunizations required.

 

 

Candidates who are teachers must be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.

 

These positions commence no earlier than September 1, 2022 until no later than August 31, 2023.
