Current Rate of Pay: Min $35.52 - Max $50.85

Position Summary:

The primary role of the RN is to provide high quality, safe, effective and evidence-based care in partnership with patients and families, in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards and GGH's mission, vision, values and policies. The RN optimizes the patient's experience and care outcomes by:
  • Being accountable for one's decisions and professional practice;
  • Establishing a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family;
  • Collaborating with other members of the patient's care team;
  • Coordinating, communicating and documenting patient care activities.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
  • Certificate of registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • BLS certification
  • Demonstrated commitment to best practice, nursing standards and life-long learning
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated excellent assessment skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians
  • Completion of Paediatric Assessment course
  • Recent Paediatric experience
  • Recent Paediatric Surgical experience preferred
  • Current IV Certification and demonstrated competency in initiation and maintenance of paediatric IV's
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP)
  • Current Paediatric Advanced Live Support (PALS)
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with team members and families
  • Knowledge and understanding of best practices and standards of practice for paediatric nursing
  • Recent Special Care Nursery experience, at a level 2 or greater hospital, including the ability to care for an at risk neonate
  • Experience receiving/resuscitating infants at high risk deliveries
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP)
  • C-PAP experience
  • STABLE certification
  • ACoRN preferred
  • Demonstrated ability in caring for the mother/baby dyad
  • Demonstrated neonatal assessment skills
  • Level 1 WHO breastfeeding course or 18-hour equivalent course
  • Level 2 breastfeeding course an asset Demonstrated commitment to best practice, nursing standards and life-long learning
