About Us

The joint venture between SNC-Lavalin and Aecon has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to carry out the Darlington Retube and Feeder Replacement (RFR) project. The project involves refurbishment of all four reactors at the Darlington Generating Station and consists of two phases - a Definition Phase and an Execution Phase. The Definition Phase includes the construction of a full-scale reactor mock-up to simulate key elements of the refurbishment work, and the development, procurement and testing of specialized tooling required for the project. The Execution Phase involves refurbishment of the reactor cores. using the tools and methods that were developed and tested during the Definition Phase.

Reporting directly to the Lead Occupation Health Nurse the Occupational Nurse will be a resource to the Environmental Health & Safety Department on various medical, occupational health or preventative initiatives for the SLN-Aecon Joint Venture. The position is intended to assist in providing as much care at the site as is reasonably possible.

What You'll Do Here
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and responsible for maintaining and developing all records, equipment and programs related to occupational health services.
  • Provide first aid at site for personnel, evaluate and treat injuries and illnesses in an efficient and professional manner within the scope of practice and consistent with clinical nursing guidelines.
  • Provide post injury follow up with personnel
  • Maintain treatment log
  • Maintain first aid cabinet and first aid room supplies
  • Monitor and maintain documentation on any modified or restricted duty cases
  • Develop and support early and safe return to normal duty plan
  • Provide wellness information to RFR personnel
  • Liaise with internal claims management staff, WSIB and medical personnel regarding any claims /case related issues
  • Provide basic vision test for personnel as required
  • Aid Human Resources in developing and reassessing non occupational accommodation plan for personnel

What You Bring To The Team
  • Must be a registered nurse in the province of Ontario
  • Previous acute care nursing experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of regulations applicable to occupational and environmental health and safety
  • Detail oriented and have the ability to multitask
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Self-directed and independent project management experience
  • Occupational nursing certificate or direct construction site experience preferred
  • Ability to manage cases with a view to providing site based treatment whenever possible
