Summary:

The primary role of the Resource Nurse in the General Acute Medicine unit is to work collaboratively with the Program leadership to improve patient care and to support the overall strategic objectives of the program. The resource nurse will identify clinical practice learning needs and work with the Education Practice lead to design, implement and evaluate initiatives and educational programs that meet staff needs. Support learning needs of staff on the unit. The resource nurse will promote collaborative team practice and support high quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

The Resource Nurse will contribute to improved patient care by:
  • Developing and coordinating processes and strategies that enable and advance professional practice and ongoing education/training
  • Developing processes that implement evidence-based practice guidelines
  • Acting as a role model and resource to multidisciplinary staff members, supporting staff to provide excellent and compassionate care
  • Contributing to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors
  • Working knowledge of ALC and Medworxx would be an asset

Other information:
  • Current Registration Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Baccalaurreate preparation in nursing preferred.
  • Must have recent experience caring for medicine patients.
  • Minimum of 5 years recent clinical nursing experience.
  • Highly developed problem solving, conflict resolution, decision making, multitasking and time management skills
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives, customer service and to continued learning
  • Participates in team building and improvement activities that contribute to a healthy workplace environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of patient flow processes within the organization
  • Knowledge of ALC process is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
