Job Details

Position Title: Professor, Bachelor of Science - Nursing. Practical Nursing and Personal Support Worker

Status: FT Academic

Faculty/Department: Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellness

Campus/Location: North Campus

Salary: Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the collective agreement for academic employees

Specializations: Looking for 3 Academic Professors with the following specializations:
  • Care of the older person (gerontological - acute and /or long-term care) nursing
  • Maternal child nursing
  • Mental Health nursing

  • What you will do:

    The incumbent will develop curriculum, design/revise specific courses, create an effective and innovative learning environment for our students, teach and assess student progress and achievement; work collaboratively with colleagues, participate in committees and related associations. The incumbent(s) may also be responsible for assisting with program promotion; developing and maintaining strong links with professional associations and practice settings; supervising work integrated learning mandatory professional practicum clinical placement activities; academic advising students; participating on Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness and Humber committees.

    What you bring to the role:

    Education

    Minimum graduate degree in Nursing - PhD in nursing or working towards obtaining a PhD.
    • Must be a Registered Nurse and member in good standing of the College of Nurses of Ontario

    Experience and Skills

    The successful candidate will possess superior interpersonal communication, facilitation and problem-solving skills and have demonstrated ability to contribute positively to curriculum development. The successful candidate will have a student-focused approach utilizing engaging and effective teaching skills, with demonstrated ability to coach and support students while managing classroom dynamics. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess a strong knowledge and application of current pedagogical principles and a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change.

    The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of principles of equity and inclusion, be a collaborative team player and be committed to a positive team culture.

    Additional qualifications include a demonstrated commitment to team and inter/intraprofessional collaboration within a scholarly community and a primary health care philosophy.
