Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care plays a vital role provincially, regionally, and locally for people living with mental illness and addictions, and people needing specialized geriatric services. Waypoint provides an extensive range of acute and longer-term inpatient and outpatient mental health and addiction services to the Simcoe, Muskoka, and Ontario Health Central regions. Waypoint employs more than 1,500 staff, including approximately 50 medical staff and 100 volunteers.   The Position

 

The Director, Professional Practice will provide visionary leadership and clinical expertise for Professional Practice. The Director will be responsible for supporting the strategic vision, direction, leadership, and guidance for enabling and optimizing the scope of practice at Waypoint. The Director will lead and influence the planning, implementation, and evaluation of practice with a commitment to best clinical practices and evidence. The Director will advance a collaborative team philosophy which will enhance interprofessional collaboration and contribute to exceptional client-centred care. Additionally, this role will provide leadership in the areas of professional development for nursing and interprofessional staff, support strategies to enhance staff resiliency, and provide clinical practice advice and expertise across the organization as well as external strategic partnerships

 

 

 

Key Leadership Initiatives for the new Director will be to:

 

Provide leadership for the continued evolution of professional practice at Waypoint, supporting the organization through model of care changes and other key strategic enabling initiatives. Introduce innovative practices that can help to facilitate learning, best practice optimization, and clinical excellence within and outside of Waypoint. Continue to support the optimization and standardization of the health information system through the tri-hospital collaborative of specialty mental health hospitals. Strengthen and build processes across the different program areas, which support strong integrated models of care and organizational strategic alignment. Contribute to organizational strategic planning and health system collaboration by enabling and empowering a strong health professions voice. Leverage strategic partnerships with other community services, mental health and addictions providers, government, and academia. Provide expertise in and ensure Waypoint meets all regulatory requirements for nurses and interprofessional members. Coach, mentor, support and inspire team members, colleagues, and partners to collaborate on achieving Waypoint’s strategic priorities.

have the requisite knowledge, and a highly developed ability to influence and inspire teams, drive strategic directions, and create energy and enthusiasm for progressive change. In addition to being a member in good standing with the College of Nurses, you will be a strong leader with the ability to continuously raise the quality of care.
