The scenic community of Gamètì is situated midway between Great Slave and Great Bear Lakes in the traditional hunting area of the Tłı̨chǫ and Sahtu Dene peoples of the Northwest Territories. Experience the vibrancy of the land and culture in the natural setting of Gamètì, on the shores of Rae Lakes.

The Nurse in Charge (NIC) will manage the community health programs provided to a client population of approximately 300 residents and manage one Community Health Nurse. Areas managed by both nurses include providing non­emergency medical care, responding to medical crisis, providing emergency response in collaboration with the Medical Travel department, and delivering nursing programs designed to promote community health and wellness. The provision of emergency services is supported by a physician via telephone when communications links are available.

Salaries start at $109k for Nurse in Charge and Community Health Nurses, plus an annual Northern Living Allowance of $16,394, labour market supplement of $7,000, health and dental, a generous pension plan, outstanding leave benefits, relocation assistance, and professional development opportunities and education support. Our graduate nurses are also typically eligible for student loan forgiveness through Canada’s Loan Forgiveness program.

The Nurse in Charge requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing along with five (5) years recent nursing experience with at least one (1) year in a northern health centre and at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.

The Community Health Nurse requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing along with two (2) years of recent nursing experience in an emergency (ER) or critical care (ICU) setting or in a northern health center.
