This position will be assigned a Fall/Winter rotation but teaching assignments may be changed by the Dean/Associate Dean to occur in any of the three semesters.

We are seeking a full - time Professor to support the Georgian College Honours Bachelor of Science Nursing degree program, as a faculty member at Georgian College you will have the opportunity to apply your passion for the nursing profession, teaching our future nursing professionals, engaging in research and sharing your rich experience with students. By creating a supportive and effective learning environment, you will enable students in the BScN to achieve their full academic potential as well as the College of Nurses of Ontario Entry to Practice

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Develop and deliver a wide variety of courses in Honours Bachelor of Science - Nursing (BScN) program
  • Evaluate student progress / achievement
  • Maintain subject matter expertise through professional development and research, contact with industry partners, other educational institutions and/or professional bodies
  • Create and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Contribute to the scholarship and research activities within a degree granting environment
  • Incorporate a variety of learning / teaching strategies and technologies to meet student needs
  • Participate in portfolio / academic / campus and college-wide activities as required
  • Actively collaborate in BScN program specific committees.
  • Participate in course / curriculum revision, program revision and renewal activities
  • Develop alternative delivery strategies, and online course development and teaching, as required
  • Detailed descriptions of responsibilities, are defined in the classification definition of professor in the Academic Collective Agreement

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:
  • Master Degree in Nursing; Ph.D. or terminal degree in Nursing Preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain current registration, in good standing, as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Previous teaching experience at a postsecondary level and/or adult training experience
  • Active research track record or strong potential to develop an active research dossier
  • Experience with some or all of the following: curriculum development and evaluation, simulation pedagogy (medium and/or high fidelity), universal design for learning, a variety of delivery strategies, adult teaching and learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
  • Experience with intra and inter-professional collaborative models of care and/or inter-professional education
  • Ability to effectively integrate new technology into teaching and learning
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to contribute to, and work in, a positive team environment and to foster the same in students
  • Commitment to life-long learning
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office Suite

Additional Asset / Preferred:
  • Experience in any of the following areas would be an asset: Medical-surgical nursing, leadership, and/or simulation (medium and high-fidelity simulation)
  • Experience with online course development and instruction
  • Computer literacy: Learning Management System / Web Delivery Software (i.e. Blackboard) and Student Information Systems
  • The ability to teach in more than one related program area
