Hours: Monday-Sunday - Various rotating 12 hour shifts- Days and nights- 0730-1930/1930-0730 - (Hours subject to change based on operational requirements)

This is what you'll be doing:
The successful candidate will provide Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing care to adult inpatient Psychiatry patients in a new 36 bed unit. The model of care is Primary Nursing, where the RPN will function as Primary and Associate Nurse for a small group of patients to provide continuous care from admission to discharge, and subsequent admissions. This includes optimizing the RPN scope of Nursing Practice to include medication administration. Responsible for delivering patient care to individuals who are depressed, suicidal, psychotic and/or have severe personality and behavioural disorders.
Your skills include the ability to make behavioral observations, mental status and physical assessments, monitoring patient's response to pharmaceutical care interventions, documentation and ongoing communication with other team members and charge nurses

Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current Heart & Stroke Approved BLS Provider Card upon hire
CPI certification required
Psychiatric nursing certification in progress required
1 year minimum acute adult mental health experience required
Must possess a strong understanding of psychopharmacology
Must possess a strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing, addiction issues and risk assessments
Must possess good assessment and crisis intervention, communication, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to perform well in stressful situations and problem solve.
Good team player
Satisfactory employment and attendance record
Must be physically able to do the job, which involves heavy lifting and intensive physical effort

The ideal candidate is strong in patient centered care in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and should be ready to drive change and innovation. We require a person with good communication skills with a clear patient focus with the ability to manage execution and to foster teamwork and cooperation.
Salary: $24.93 to $31.17 per hour
