Reporting to the Manager, Operating Room, as part of our multidisciplinary team you will contribute to providing care to our paediatric and adult patients. Your duties will include immediate pre-operative, intraoperative and immediate post operative care with regard to booked surgical procedures, assisting physicians, and other related duties. Our diverse caseload includes but is not limited to general surgery, orthopaedics, plastics, ophthalmology, retinal, vascular, gynecology, advanced laparoscopic and ENT procedures.

• Ongoing Skill Advancement: In-house courses and workshops to advance skills like wound care and ACLS certifications. Our surgical program is a part of the Total Joint Network, and participates in projects related to care of joint replacement patients and patients with hip fractures

Requirements:
• Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current BCLS
• Completed Perioperative Nursing Certificate from an accredited College
• Ability to work independently and to carry a busy workload
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment, with good organizational skills
• Demonstrated excellence in patient teaching and patient assessment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to provide patient centered care
• Demonstrated punctuality in attendance
• Ability to work independently within a Total Patient Care modality
• Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
• Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
• Strong work ethic and commitment is required
• Demonstrated high standards of work outputs
• Highly punctual
• Demonstrated professionalism and reliability
Asset:
• Recent OR experience preferred
• Graduate of an RPN diploma program
• Ability to speak another language
