Trenton Memorial Hospital provides 24/7 emergency services, has a bustling inpatient unit for acute medical and complex continuing care patients, performs an array of day surgery procedures and is the regional centre for ophthalmology. Position Summary
The Trenton Emergency department is a fast paced unit that serves the Trenton and surrounding communities. The team in Trenton ER includes, RPN's, Physicians, RN's, and NP's who work together to provide comprehensive care to our patients. We provide a robust orientation program which includes a mentorship period as well as in class learning. As a member of the ER team you will have the opportunity to work in an environment that expands and hones your scope of practice, critical thinking, leadership, and nursing skills.
Required
Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Minimum 6 months experience in an Emergency Room
Completion of Coronary Care 1 or equivalent (ex. QHC Cardio Concepts) or obtain within 6 months.
Current CPR or BCLS certificate.
Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (PDA available to review)
Duties
Provision of care for patients within an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education
Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgement necessary for care of acute medical patients.
Teaching and coaching to patients and families
Maintains nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
Practicing in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards and best practices within the nursing profession
Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development including annul training and education as indicated
Participates in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives
Adheres to a safe and healthy workplace and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adheres to health and safety related policy and procedures
Adapts and adheres to the values of QHC while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience
Other duties as assigned.
