For more information, visit www.cornwall.caOverviewReporting to the Director of Care, the Nursing Supervisor provides leadership on the day shift at Glen Stor Dun Lodge, the City owned Long term care home. The Nursing Supervisor will utilize strong leadership and superior patient care principles to ensure that continuous high quality of care is provided to all residents of Glen Stor Dun Lodge.The Nursing Supervisor is responsible in ensuring the proper execution of the following:

Ensure resident care is provided with established nursing standards and principles, practitioner orders, and administrative policies. Assure observance of required techniques in nursing care.
Demonstrate knowledge of Standards of Practice guidelines of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Protects resident and employees by monitoring and enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
Direct, supervise, and mentor RNs, RPNs & PSWs in the provision of care in a manner that promotes dignity, compassion, and is in adherence to Care Plans. Monitor performance, conduct performance appraisals, and refer high risk issues with Director of Care.
Promotes a positive relationship with interprofessional team to ensure high quality emotion-based care is provided to residents and resources are utilized with efficiency.
Replace and manage absences and directs staff to units where needed based on organizational needs such as replacement of sick calls or managing staffing shortages.
Maintain nursing supplies inventory by studying usage reports, identifying trends, anticipating needed supplies, and approving requisitions and cost allocations.
Consistently adheres to a high standard of professional ethics and is a role model for other staff.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario and hold a Bachelor of Nursing Science degree.
Five years of nursing and long-term care experience is an asset.
Core competencies for the position include the ability to empathetically support the people you lead, effectively delegate responsibilities instead of tasks, and a relentless communicator that ensures everyone understands the expectations and standards.

Strong organizational, critical thinking and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience in a leadership capacity in a unionized setting will be considered an asset.

Fully bilingual in French and English would be considered an asset.
