Hours: Monday to Friday - Days; 0800 - 1600 (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)

Job Profile:

The Cancer Care Clinics are located in one department at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. The Cancer Clinic services the Solid Tumor and Hematology patient populations for systemic cancer and supportive treatments, well follow-up care, and palliative care.

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is a professional clinician who is responsible and accountable for providing quality patient care within a delivery model in accordance with Halton Healthcare policies and standards of care, the College of Nurses (CNO) of Ontario, and in alignment with Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) standards. The RPN will support procedures and care for patients with established and stable care needs within a multi-disciplinary team. .

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Heart & Stroke approved BLS certification required at time of hire
  • Current knowledge on cancer disease processes and treatment options. Additional Foundations in Oncology Nursing Practice (de Souza course) or college course, required
  • Central Venous Access Device certification an asset
  • Strong understanding of an outpatient clinic process and flow
  • Ability to support patient care with procedures
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and a strong knowledge of policy and practice standards
  • Demonstrable critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage emotionally charged situations in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Understanding of CANO standards for Oncology Nursing
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • CANO membership an asset
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record

Salary: $24.93 to $31.17
