Trent University invites applications for a limited term position (LTA) at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Trent/Fleming School of Nursing. The position will be located at the beautiful Symons campus in Peterborough, which is on a direct GO route and a 90-minute drive from Toronto. The TFSON offers a collaborative and compressed Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, a Master of Science in Nursing program in Professional Practice Leadership jointly with Ontario Tech University, and a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health and Addictions Nursing.

The duration of the appointment will range between one and three years and may commence as early as May 1, 2023, subject to budgetary approval. There may be opportunity for a part-time appointment.


The successful candidate will possess the requisite knowledge and expertise to teach in one or more of the following areas: pathophysiology, pharmacology, critical care nursing, chronic care nursing, and homecare. We are seeking an exceptional candidate who can effectively translate their knowledge to nursing students in ways that both ground and inspire new nurses to provide exceptional nursing care. Experience in providing clinical-student supervision will also be considered an asset.


The successful candidate will have a completed (or close to completed) doctorate in nursing or a related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with at least one completed graduate degree in nursing. LTA faculty may be expected to teach a portion of their course load in the summer. As with other faculty positions, the successful candidate will contribute to the service needs of the School, University, community, and profession, as appropriate. Applicants for this position will be Registered Nurses (General or Extended Class) who are eligible to practice with no restrictions with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
