As a member of the UHN and the Nursing Multi-disciplinary Team, the REGISTERED NURSE practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession. The services of the Psychiatric Emergency Department help to provide safe, comprehensive assessment and treatment for those suffering from psychiatric emergencies. The RN works with a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, RNs, clinicians, crisis workers, PAs and students. Specifically, the RN in Psychiatric Emergency will be located in the Emergency Department in an area designed to manage and assess Mental Health Emergencies. QUALIFICATIONS: - Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario - Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification - Two (2) years experience in Mental Health, Acute Mental Health preferred - Excellent psychiatric assessment skills - Understanding of psychiatric disorders, individual development, and family dynamics - Strong interpersonal and communication skills - Excellent organizational and time management skills - Exceptional decision making and problem solving skills - B. Sc. N. preferred - Canadian Nurses Association Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing preferred - NVCI training preferred - Previous experience in acute mental health nursing preferred - Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment preferred - Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
