Position: Registered Nurse, (12 positions) Site: Toronto Rehab, All sites Department: Toronto Rehab Nursing Resource Pool/Staffing Office Reports to: Manager, Program Services Scale/Grade: E0: 06 Salary Range: $33.90 to $48.53 per hour (Start rate in accordance with collective agreement requirements.) Hours: 37.5 Hours/Week; Shifts: Days/Nights/Alternate Weekends, 12 Hour Shifts Status: Permanent Full-time University Health Network (UHN) is looking to fill the key role of Registered Nurse as part of Toronto Rehab Nursing Resource Pool. Bringing together innovative patient care, groundbreaking research and diverse education to help people overcome or recover from disabling injury, illness or age-related conditions Toronto Rehab is located at four sites: University Centre (550 University Ave.), Lyndhurst Hospital and Toronto Rehab's Cardiac and Stroke Centre (Rumsey Road) and the Bickle Centre (Dunn Ave). The TRI NRP/Staffing Office is an initiative created to respond to unit nursing staffing requirements at UHN based on: patient acuity; replacement needs for leaves such as sick or vacation time; and known short-term vacancies when the unit's internal staff resources are unavailable. JOB SUMMARY: As a member of the TRI NRP the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession. The principal responsibilities include: applying knowledge of nursing science, theory, skill and critical decision making in the provision of compassionate, collaborative and competent care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model for Nursing and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN; ensuring practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the UHN policy and procedure; demonstrating commitment to professional life long learning by participating in continuing education activities to meet the needs of the patient population served and the standards of the profession; performing reflective practice, analyzing and evaluating nursing knowledge and modifying practice accordingly to improve the quality of nursing and patient care; performing cross-functional and other responsibilities, as assigned and/or requested. QUALIFICATIONS: - Member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario - Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support (C level) Heart Saver Plus (Canada) - Ability to demonstrate strong health assessment skills - Must be flexible and possess the ability to work effectively and efficiently within a variety of patient care teams - Demonstrated patient centered approach to providing care and service - Excellent patient teaching abilities - Excellent interpersonal and decision making skills - Strong organizational skills - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Successful candidate is required to work rotational shift - Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred - Interest in rehabilitation and post-acute nursing preferred - Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
