POSITION: Registered Practical Nurse
UNIT: Operating Room
STATUS: Part-Time
START DATE: February 2023
POSITION SUMMARY:
The RPN will participate in preoperative, operative and postoperative activities of the surgical client.
These include the scrub nurse role, assisting with ambulatory care clinics, documenting client care
and providing support to clients and their families.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)  Diploma from a recognized College  BCLS, NRP  Basic Cardiac Arrhythmias Certification  12 Lead ECG Interpretation Certification  Peri-Operative Course Completed or in progress  PACU Course preferred  Specialized certifications and courses related to area of specialization as required  Two years related nursing experience working in Day Surgery, PACU and the OR,  Scrub Nurse experience preferred

POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: 
Demonstration of adherence to the professional practice standards of CNO.  Demonstrated application of role in Code situation (ex. Code Blue).  Communicates with patients, families, physicians, staff and community partners.  Working with a variety of patients, from pediatric to geriatric.  Observing and recording patient behavior. Evaluates patient outcomes.  Competent operation of medical equipment.  Performing diagnostic tests within scope of practice  Safely Administering medications and treatments.  Contributes to plan of care from admission to discharge
HOURS OF WORK: Ability to work all shifts, weekends and holidays. Expectation to be on-call for afterhours
and weekend surgical cases as a part of a scheduled rotation
