The Personal Support Worker functions as a nursing team member assisting the patients in the Hospital to meet their basic physical, social and emotional needs, by transporting them to or from their tests and anywhere necessary, along with any other duties that may be required within the scope of the classification. Shift rotations are subject to change.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
o Successful completion of the Personal Support Worker Certificate Required.
o Current CPR.
o One year experience working as a Health Care Aide or Personal Support Worker in a healthcare setting.
o Knowledge and experience using proper body mechanics for a one-person transport by wheelchair or stretcher.
o Demonstrated understanding of proper body mechanics when pushing, pulling, lifting and transferring patients.
o Working knowledge of stretchers, beds, wheelchairs, etc.
o Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
o Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, judgment and decision-making skills.
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
o Must be available for all shifts, vacation replacement, sick time and paid holidays.
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
