Patient Care Manager - Mother and Baby, Labour & Delivery and Pregnancy Assessment Clinic

Permanent Full Time

The Patient Care Manager for the Mother & Baby, Labour & Delivery and the Pregnancy Assessment Clinic is a member of the management team within the Woman and Child program/clinical area. The Manager is responsible for the coordination, direction, human and fiscal resources of these units. Areas of responsibility include Labour & Delivery and Mother and Baby with the opportunity to develop and implement a Labour, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) model of care. The Manager collaborates with the Program Director, Physician Leaders, Educators and other key members to ensure that high quality, effective, efficient, patient focused services and care is provided. The Manager is accountable for planning, implementing and integrating plans that are in alignment with the Woman and Child Program.

What must you have?
  • Completion of Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or other regulated health professional field.
  • Nurse Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario or another regulated Health Professional College
  • Current enrollment in or completion of a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field preferred

What else do you bring?
  • Minimum of 2-5 years clinical leadership experience required, preferably in woman and child care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in clinical practice.
  • Demonstrates excellence in interpersonal communication, coaching, mentoring and team building skills that facilitate positive interactions among all members of the health care team.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the application of the RHPA legislation.
  • Demonstrates superior understanding of systems, systems analysis techniques, value analysis process and continuous improvement principles and tools.
  • Possesses highly developed analytical, problem solving, critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrates a strong patient and customer focused philosophy in all interactions.
  • Possesses the ability to introduce and effectively facilitate change.
  • Demonstrates superior decision-making and organizational skills.
  • Experience in procurement and budget management is an asset
  • Demonstrated understanding of Better Outcomes Registry & Network (BORN) data collection.
  • Demonstrates commitment to professional development.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, support and critical analysis in stressful, complex clinical and emotional situations.
  • Ability to analyze research and implement evident-based practice into Policy and Procedure development and clinical practice.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and guiding staff experiencing performance and/or attendance problems in a unionized environment.
  • Communicates effectively with the multidisciplinary team and external areas using timely, appropriate written, verbal and non-verbal means.
  • Utilizes effective listening skills to maximize understanding of issues.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others and demonstrates behaviours consistent with Mackenzie Health's Commitment to Caring.

Preferably, your profile also includes:
  • Knowledge and experience in Labor and Delivery/Postpartum and newborn care.
  • Certified Health Executive (CHE) with The Canadian College of Health Leaders.
