Unit Summary
The McMaster University Medical Centre site of Hamilton Health Sciences is home to McMaster Children's Hospital. As of April 04, 2011, a specialized Pediatric Emergency Department provides care for infants, children and youth 17 years of age and under. Our dedicated team of health professionals provides family centred emergency care that embraces teaching, research and health promotion
Position Summary
As a member of the healthcare team, the Registered Nurse coordinates and evaluates patient care and provides nursing care according to the job description and Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses in the Emergency Department.

Qualifications
1. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
2. Current BCLS and NRP certification
3. Certification in Pediatric Emergency Nursing (ENPC)
4. Demonstrated current knowledge of assessment and management in a broad range of disease processes related to infants, children and youth; i.e. critically ill, injured, episodic and non-urgent patients
5. Demonstrated knowledge of pediatric growth and development from neonate to teenager, family-centered care, family roles and structure, pain management and death and dying
6. Demonstrated current knowledge of and experience in pediatric: assessment, vascular access, cardiorespiratory monitoring, medication calculation/administration
7. Demonstrated ability to provide health teaching and promotion to children and knowledge of adult learning principles in working with care providers
8. Demonstrated proficiency in working with peers and multidisciplinary healthcare teams, both in the hospital and in the community
9. Demonstrated culturally sensitive approach and communication skills, both written and verbal
10. Demonstrated strong leadership ability and organizational skills and ongoing professional development
11. Certification in PALS and ATCN/TNCC
12. Recent 2 years pediatric experience (in last 3 years)
13. Recent 2 years Emergency nursing experience (in last 3 years)

Salary:
Min: $34.24
Max: $49.02
