Registered Nurse - District Stroke Centre - CASUAL

The Registered Nurse will teach and promote the use of evidenced based care and best practices for stroke care throughout Grey and Bruce counties. As part of the Stroke Team, components of this role include Stroke Flow Navigation, Patient education, advocacy and leadership. This nurse acts as a liaison, consultant and resource for other health care professionals concerning stroke management and education, and works in collaboration with same to build capacity, expertise and flow within GBHS Stroke Centre, its partners and stakeholders.Working with the District Stroke Team, he or she will support hospitals and community-based agencies to enhance stroke care across the continuum (prevention/promotion, pre-hospital/ER care, acute care, rehabilitation, community re-engagement).

Qualifications Required:

• Ontario College of Nurses registration
• Recent experience with stroke care within last 3 years
• Ability to mentor staff related to Stroke Care best practice
• Demonstrated knowledge of Principles of Adult Education (didactic and mentoring)
• Ability to support and educate patients, colleagues, community partners throughout Grey Bruce
• Demonstrated leadership development including team building and interprofessional collaboration
• Ability to implement new initiatives and process changes
• Excellent Time management and organizational skills
• Excellent ability to prioritize work and complete projects/tasks on time
• Excellent and highly effective written and verbal communication skills
• Flexibility and a high level of initiative
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
• Demonstrated ability in change management and quality improvement practices
• experience building working relationships with interdisciplinary healthcare team, community partners and involvement with integration projects
• Ability to set priorities and work independently
• A valid Ontario driver's license and reliable insured vehicle
• Ability to travel throughout Grey and Bruce counties
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
