Job Posting #908822 Position: Nurse Practitioner; Complex Malignant Hematology Team Site: University Health Network, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Department: Collaborative Academic Practice, Complex Continuing Care Scale: F0:05 Salary: $47.87 - $59.83 per hour (Commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN Compensation Policy) Hours: 37.5 Hours/Week Status: Temporary full-time, 1 year University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Nurse Practitioner in the Complex Malignant Hematology Team at UHN's Princess Margaret Cancer Centre . As a member of the Interprofessional Complex Malignant Hematology Team, the NURSE PRACTITIONER (NP) functions in an expanded role demonstrating a high level of autonomy and expert skill to manage the care required for malignant hematology patients. Key responsibilities include: primary clinician in the Malignant Hematology Day Unit with main focus on leukemia patient population. The Complex Malignant hematology NP will also provide comprehensive care to various hematology patients seen in the Malignant Hematology day Unit. (i.e. Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma). The NP will rotate in other Malignant Hematology clinical areas (e.g. Leukemia Rapid Assessment). Principal responsibilities include utilizing and demonstrating a comprehensive theoretical knowledge base and an advanced level of clinical competence in caring for malignant hematology patients. This will involve collecting and interpreting data about the health of the patient, treating complex responses of individuals and families to actual or potential problems. The Nurse Practitioner is an integral member of the Complex Malignant Hematology team having specific role responsibilities. Other responsibilities include 20% of time aligned to academic and leadership activities, including delivering, coordinating and participating in research, education and professional development activities. The successful candidate will require clinical skills to care for patients, but also a level of comfort with ambiguity while establishing role clarity within the site group and the continued expansion of the Complex Malignant Hematology program. The Nurse Practitioner will report directly to the Director of Professional Practice, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

Qualifications:

- Completion of a Masters degree - Current College of Nurses of Ontario Registration in the Extended Class (EC) as a NP (adult) or NP (Primary Health Care) required or pending - Demonstrated expertise as a Nurse Practitioner preferred - Up to five (5) years of relevant experience; including three (3) years experience working in the malignant hematology or leukemia setting preferred - Certification in Oncology Nursing preferred - Commitment to collaborative practice - Experience in nursing research methodology an asset - Eligible for cross-appointment to an academic institution - Current certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario - Evidence of professional malpractice insurance - Membership in the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO) and other organizations relevant to the role preferred - Knowledge of data management programs an asset - Effective verbal and written communication skills - Effective interpersonal and customer services skills - Excellent organization and time management skills - Excellent decision making, problem recognition and problem solving skills - Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills - Program planning and evaluation methodology skills an asset - Ability to work effectively independently and under stressful conditions - Ability to work in a self directed manner - Ability to manage and prioritize multiple demands - Ability to utilize information technology - Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support required - Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code If you are interested in making your contribution at UHN, please apply on-line.
