Reporting to the Manger of Outpatient Mental Health Services, the Registered Nurse provides a range of outpatient mental health services to clients who have experienced sexual assault and domestic violence (intimate partner abuse). The RN provides specialized treatment, psychosocial care, legal information, and related crisis counseling and counselling services using evidenced-based therapeutic modalities. This position is initially targeted to work in our Sexual Assault and Partner Abuse Care Centre (SAPACC) program with the understanding that the RN is a member of Outpatient Mental Health Services and as such may be assigned to another program as needed.
Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

Required
  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Experience in forensic gynecology and forensic nursing
  • Knowledge of paediatric forensic sexual assault exams
  • Knowledge of sexual assault law, evidence collection and legal proceedings
  • Experience in Crisis Intervention in relation to sexual assault and domestic partner violence
  • Understanding of the current issues and challenges in providing care to sexual and domestic violence victims
  • Education and training in counselling modalities such as CBT, DBT, and EMDR
  • Experience with public speaking and adult education and training
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills
  • Advanced Leadership skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Sound comprehension of the CNO guidelines on scope of practice and their application
  • Weekend, evening and night shift on-call duty is required
  • Established skills in self-care
  • Satisfactory performance
  • Satisfactory attendance record
  • Knowledge of and adherence to GBHS Core Values
  • Ability and willingness to ensure patient safety, including but not limited to: use of routine infection control practices, hand washing, patient risk assessments, reporting of adverse events
  • Knowledgeable and proficient with the skills required to educate adults
  • Valid Driver's License and access to a reliable insurable vehicle
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout Grey and Bruce Counties
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
  • Knowledge of and adherence to GBHS 'CARE' Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence)
  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safetyat GBHS through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
