Summary:
The Resource Nurse is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Emergency Department in collaboration with the Clinical Manager.
Responsibilities:
This individual will be an active participant in department activities which facilitates achievement of department goals and objectives through the following practices:

Summary:
The Resource Nurse is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Emergency Department in collaboration with the Clinical Manager.
Responsibilities:
This individual will be an active participant in department activities which facilitates achievement of department goals and objectives through the following practices:
- Promote collaborative team practice amongst disciplines
- Plan, co-ordinate, and direct patient care activities in the department
- Assign duties to team members that are consistent with the member's knowledge, skill and scope of practice
- Assess departmental needs during the shift and readjusts assignments as needed
- Act as a resource, mentor and role model for staff members communicating appropriate knowledge, skills, and judgment
- Adapt to changing workloads, collaborating with colleagues hospital-wide regarding adjusting priorities
- First line of resolution to patient complaints and unusual occurrences.
- Participate in department committees as necessary
- Contribute to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors
Qualifications:
- Current Certificate of Competence from College of Nurse of Ontario
- Minimum of one year current nursing experience to include:
- Blood and Blood Products Administration
- Urinary and Gastric Catheter Insertion
- Glucose Point of Care Testing
- Management of Patients with Intravenous Therapy
- BCLS
- Minimum of one year experience in an Emergency/Critical Care Setting and who demonstrates competency in:
- Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation
- Venipuncture to initiate IV Therapy
- Advanced IV Medication Administration to include direct IV Administration and Special IV Infusions such as Inotropes
- Application of Energy to include Defibrillation and Transthoracic Pacing
- Successfully completed one or more of the following certificate programs/courses
- Required: PALS, ENPC, ACLS, Triage
- Recommended: TNCC/ETLS, NRP
- Good attendance record
