The Clinical Lead, Health Services will provide comprehensive care, operational quality of the highest standard, leadership, and promote excellence in nursing and professional practice while ensuring alignment with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Lakefield College School. Utilizing advanced leadership skills, and theoretical, and clinical expertise, the Clinical Lead, Health Services will deliver advanced practical nursing to students and practical nursing direction and advice to nursing colleagues.  The Clinical Lead, Health Services will promote organizational and program best practice initiatives and projects. 

 

The Clinical Lead, Health Services, is a management position, both for the Health Centre and for the entire Lakefield College School community.  Working within the Health Services department, the successful candidate will provide expert clinical advice and support for the development of a strong health services team who seek consistent excellence in the servicing of our adolescent population.  This position will work approximately 40 hours a week providing active nursing support, as well as participating in the on-call coverage schedule.

The Clinical Lead, Health Services, reports directly to the Assistant Head, Safety, and works closely with and directly supports the nursing and counselling team.

Purpose, Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Provide direction and support to the Health Centre team, ensuring that the goals of the Health Centre, to promote overall health and wellness and to provide primary and emergency health care and follow-up for the students, are met Work with the Assistant Head: Safety and Health Centre team to develop and administer the Health Centre budget including planning for capital expenditures Initiate and oversee development and implementation of Directives, policies and procedures, information systems, wellness/health education programs with the Health Centre team Work with the Assistant Head: Safety and nursing team to oversee the critical response plan (crisis management team and plan), providing training to staff as may be required Ensure the presence of the Health Centre within the school community, including but not limited to the clear and timely communication to all students of services available and how to access those services Work with the school counsellors to provide and communicate confidential counselling services for students and referrals to community agencies as appropriate Make appropriate recommendations to the Assistant Head: Safety with regards to assessment, including testing, counselling, medical leaves, and follow-up Supportive Care Plans and strategies for students as required Work actively in your capacity as a Nurse Practitioner and collaboratively with the school’s doctors and psychiatrist Communicate and connect with parents, Heads of House, Faculty and Associate Faculty, Director of Athletics, Head of School, Community Health Resources, Professional Associations and Networks and Health Professionals in other schools

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or equivalent Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and/or Nurse Practitioners of Ontario (NPAO) In good standing with Ontario College of Nurses and/or current Membership with the Nurse Practitioner Association of Ontario Experience within a primary care clinic, hospital or emergency room setting Demonstrated interpersonal, team, communication, leadership and public relations skills Mental Health experience an asset Strong computer skills to include but not limited to: Google Workspace, MS Word and email, experience with Mac products an asset Effective problem-solving and conflict management skills Experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system Experience with program planning and / or group facilitation considered an asset Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality Current First Aid/CPR & AED training required Valid Ontario Driver's License
