We currently have a Regular Full Time opportunity for a Registered Practical Nurse Educational Opportunity: Operating Room (Perioperative) Sponsorship Program on the Operating Room at our Bayview and Holland campus.

Hours of Work:

Weekdays: Days, Evenings, Nights; 8 hrs; As per schedule

Weekends: As per schedule

Summary of Duties

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is offering to sponsor RPN's who are interested in completing an accredited Operating Room (Perioperative) Program. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance and diversify your skills and launch your perioperative nursing career. Candidates selected to participate in this full-time educational program will be provided with a conditional offer of full-time employment in one of the following units:
  • Holland Centre Operating Room
  • Bayview Campus Operating Room

Course Starts: January 2023

Qualifications/Skills
  • Expressed interest in perioperative nursing
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BCLS certificate
  • Current mask fit test
  • One (1) year of recent post-graduate clinical nursing experience is strongly recommended
  • Ability to demonstrate theoretical/practical knowledge of ORNAC Standards
  • Successful completion of the Perioperative quiz
  • Demonstrated commitment to organizational initiatives such as best practices, participation in nursing council, unit committees, and quality improvement projects
  • Demonstrated effective ability in:

o interpersonal relationships;

o oral and written communication skills;

o organization skills, priority setting skills, problem solving;

o decision making; conflict resolution

o facilitating team work
  • Demonstrated ability to:

o integrate and apply critical thinking skills to patient care

o handle stressful environments in a positive manner

o function independently and as a part of the multidisciplinary team

This offer includes your full-time salary while in the course and tuition costs. Books and any other required material/costs are the responsibility of the candidate.
