Shift: 7.5 hr Days/Evenings: Monday to Friday

Summary:

The Day Surgery RN provides direct care for patients of various ages who have undergone a variety of surgical procedures. The condition of the patient may be complex because he/she will be recovering from recent anaesthesia. The nurse in this position will promote collaborative team practice. The nurse acts as a role model and provides consultation and intervention with other members of the health care team. In addition to working with pre and postoperative surgical patients you will also provide care to patients receiving conscious sedation.

Qualifications:

  • Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Demonstrated surgical expertise in orthopedic, general, gynecological and pediatric surgery
  • Enhanced RN skills eg. I.V. certification, EKG
  • Demonstrated communication skills necessary to interact with interdisciplinary teams, patients, families and general public
  • Ability to function effectively in clinical area with rapid pace and fast turnover
  • Demonstrated reliability, dependability and adaptability
  • Advanced assessment skills and knowledge is essential
  • Demonstrated evidence of recent continuing education
  • Good attendance record
