Shift: 7.5 hour shifts, Days - Monday to Friday

Summary:

  • Communicates with Department Managers regularly to develop and adjust schedules based on needs of individual departments/clinics, staffing patterns and approved budgets.
  • Works collaboratively with the other clinic supervisor to meet the needs to the patients especially when decisions are needing to be made around schedule adjustments
  • Advises Manager of any staffing schedules that are in excess or below the approved staffing patterns.
  • Distributes schedules to departments and assignments to employees and communicates directly with staff in relation to scheduling requests.
  • Reviews schedules from the centralized staffing office to ensure that an efficient and continuous service is maintained for GRRCC.
  • Supervises the scheduling and resource staff performance, duties, attendance, conflict resolution
  • Works closely with oncology nursing team lead and clinical assistant team to problem solve re: sick calls, decisions about replacement and reassignment of duties as required
  • Participates in selection of candidates, disciplines, discharges, of all employees under the authority of the manager in accordance with hospital policy and or the provision of the collective agreement.
  • Schedules and obtains information for the completion of staff performance evaluations.
  • Conducts regular meetings with staff to keep staff updated on new information and changes in the department/hospital and within the electronic systems. Send out communiques to staff on new information and changes in the department/hospital.
  • Prepares reports in relation to trends in staffing needs, vacancies, percentage of unfilled shifts, etc. in an effort to predict challenges and proactively plan management of staffing challenges
  • Collects and interprets the quality / accuracy of information within the cerner system
  • Organizes workflows and ensure that GRRCC staff understand their duties related to the program and departments
  • Co-ordinates and educates around the general pattern of delegated authority and responsibility
  • Works in collaboration with the leadership team to support program development including participating in change management meetings with managers and other team leads
  • First response to staff performance concerns by way of providing education and learning support around policies, procedures and standard practices to promote quality patient care and efficient operations
  • Organizes and assigns training for onboarding new clinical assistants to the oncology program, and for assigning training of onboarding new outpatient oncology nurses to the oncology program
  • Plans and carries out orientation needs in concert with outpatient nursing team lead and EPL
  • Working in concert with EPL, leads implementation of nursing practice and clinical assistant process changes and updates. This includes providing reinforcement of standard nursing and clinical assistant practice to be followed.


Qualifications:

  • Nurse with CON(C) certification or other regulated health professional with oncology background
  • 3 years' experience in oncology preferred
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in an ambulatory setting in GRH or a similar organization is an asset
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership or project lead role is required.
  • Certifications and/or courses in leadership and/or management are an asset
