Shift: 12 hour shifts, Days/Evenings/Nights/Weekends

Summary:

In partnership with Health Force Ontario, Grand River Hospital through Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN) provides a $25,000 incentive to eligible nurses in exchange for a 24-month employment commitment to Grand River Hospital.

To be eligible for the CCPN, a nurse must:

  • Not have been employed as a nurse in Ontario in the six (6) months prior to being hired;
  • Hold a Certificate of Registration in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Begin employment no later than March 31, 2024
  • Commit to 24-months of employment at a full-time work schedule offered by the employer; and
  • Not simultaneously receive funds from the Ministry of Health for the Tuition Support Program for Nurses
  • Match with an employer on the CCPN portal
  • Some restrictions apply. Grand River Hospital reserves the right to determine eligibility based on available positions.


Qualifications:

  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Post diploma in Psychiatric Nursing preferred
  • Minimum of 3-year experience in mental health nursing preferred
  • Experience in working collaboratively in multidisciplinary setting
  • Code white and de-escalation training
  • Knowledge of mental illness, suicidal behaviours and current mental health practices and treatment modalities
  • Demonstrates knowledge of recovery principles into practice with patients and their families
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Using preset standards and protocols and within their RPN scope of practice, provides assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of individuals with psychiatric/mental health disorders
  • Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act and Substitute Decisions Act
  • Excellent patient teaching skills
  • Good attendance record
  • Basic Rescuer CPR
