Reporting to the Vice President Patient Care / Chief Nursing Executive, the Director of Professional Practice, is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the following St. Joseph's Health Care London teams: Professional Practice consultants, Clinical Educators and Student Affairs. The Director provides corporate-wide strategic and operational leadership for professional practice as well as creates an environment across all sites to foster excellence in care, education, leadership and research and the promotion of professional and inter-professional practice.

By establishing key linkages with other health care organizations, academia, professional associations, appropriate Ministry departments and regulatory organizations, the Director of Professional Practice acts as a key resource in the advancement of professional practice, innovative student placement models, documentation and electronic health records, timely response to changing regulation and professional standards and guidelines, models of patient care, professional college reporting processes, recruitment strategies and quality practice work environments, and research and scholarly advancement to support clinical programs across St. Joseph`s Health Care London.

Essential Qualifications

• Successful completion of a Master's degree in nursing (MScN or MN) (PhD preferred)

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario

• Current and active membership in key professional provincial and national nursing associations

• Minimum of five years of recent experience with progressive leadership accountabilities and responsibilities (previous Director experience preferred)

• Minimum five years of clinical experience at increasing levels of responsibility in professional practice domains, including; education, administration, and policy, or, equivalent

• Working experience in an academic health science centre setting

• Demonstrated record of strong, values-based leadership in health care

• Ability and commitment to act as a supervisor under OHSA

• Knowledge of a safety culture in a health care setting in compliance with the OHSA

• Experience functioning in multi-site, multi-specialty health care organization

• Demonstrated ability to influence organizational and professional direction

• Demonstrated knowledge and skill in professional practice, program development, research evaluation and education of staff and students

• Evidence of proficiency in establishing effective interpersonal relationships, consensus building, conflict resolution, consultation and coaching/mentoring style of leadership

• Knowledge of current professional practice issues, regulatory changes and care delivery systems

• Demonstrated proficiency in communication (verbal and written), group facilitation, problem solving change management and innovation

• Demonstrated quality improvement research and research facilitation expertise

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in French would be an asset

Teaching and Research

• St. Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital. You will be expected to engage in role related teaching and research activities in addition to any of your clinical duties and to hold a teaching appointment at Western University or another university

Immunization Requirements

• Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and a written commitment to follow any future Public Health recommendations and St. Joseph's Health Care London policies and processes related to Covid management in the workplace.

• Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)

• Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
