Personal Support Worker/ Caregiver

Home Care Assistance GTA West is looking for caring and compassionate individuals to become a part of our team and join our mission of Changing the Way the World Ages.

We are currently hiring PSW's (a.k.a. Caregivers) who have good interpersonal skills and a good command of the English and Italian language. The ideal candidate should be one who can provide mental and social stimulation to our mostly elderly or senior clients, in addition, to be able to fulfil technical PSW / Caregiver duties. Immediate opportunities are available for long-term clients with steady, predictable deployment schedules.

AVAILABILITY: 20-40 hrs per week (MON to FRI) and alternate weekends

Job Description: PSWs in Oakville region whose main responsibilities will contribute to managing activities of daily living (ADLs) and maintain the autonomy of clients. Applicants of interest will work primarily with the elderly in autonomous, semi-autonomous and total care conditions.

Main responsibilities:

• Communicating directly with our care management team and nurse at the head office.
• Providing basic care relating to clients' ADLs and IADL's
• Assistance with bathing, toileting, and dressing
• Assisting with walking, exercise, and mobility
• Giving status updates and feedback to the family
• Medication reminders
• Requirements and working conditions:
• Must be able to communicate in Italian
• Valid First Aid / CPR certification
• Valid Driver's license and reliable vehicle
• Good knowledge (spoken and written) in English
• Dynamic, punctual, reliable, optimistic, courteous and proactive
• Must have passion and experience caring for the elderly
• Clear Criminal Reference Check
• Proof of eligibility to work in Canada
• Minimum 2 professional references

Pay Rate: $18-$20/hr

• Working conditions: Position: Days, Evenings, Overnights, Weekends Status: Full and part-time
