We currently have a Regular Full Time opportunity for a OHS Nurse/Surveillance in the Occupational Health & Safety Department at our Bayview Campus.

Hours of Work:

Monday to Friday - days variable hours/Does require to take call periodically

Summary of Duties
  • Apply principles of Occupational Health Nursing
  • Work in compliance of the CNO standards
  • Provide primary nursing care, first aid and emergency treatment
  • Strong assessment skills
  • Coordinate and administer immunization programs
  • Provide employee counseling and health education
  • Provide medical monitoring and medical surveillance programs
  • Conduct health reviews and worksite assessments
  • Liaises with Infection Prevention & Control/Management of Outbreaks
  • Follow up on all incidents
  • Case Management of all cases
  • Follow up on Blood/Body Fluid Exposures.
  • Participate in attendance management program
  • Maintain statistical data and provide routine reports
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Qualifications/Skills
  • Current Ontario Registration, current BCLS Certificate
  • Completion of approved Occupational Health Nursing Certificate Course.
  • CCOHN highly recommended
  • Must have 5 years' experience in an OHS department in a Health Care Sector. Strong knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control OHS related issues
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of the Workplace Safety & Insurance Act, WSIB and LTD processes and procedures and all applicable occupational health & safety legislation and standards and Human rights act.
  • Advanced Case Management Skills related to short term disability, Long Term Disability and WSIB
  • Advanced Nursing Assessment skills
  • Computer literacy - Word processing, data entry, Parklane.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good investigation skills for WSIB injuries
  • Demonstrated excellent problem-solving ability
  • Minimum 2 years experience using the OHS Parklane system preferred
  • Able to self management own individual work load.
  • Oral presentation skills
  • Must be a team player with excellent attendance
