Reporting to Manager of Staffing Resource Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating patient care within a total patient care delivery model in accordance with the of the College of Nurses of Ontario, standards of practice and the Regulated Health Professions Act.

The critical care NRT nurse is a highly skilled critical care nurse that will be responsive to the staffing needs in the ICU, PACU and ED. This nurse will be flexible to cover a variety of clinical areas as required. The successful candidate must be able to attend and successfully complete an approved critical care course funded by Scarborough Health Network.

In this role, the RN will engage in ethical conduct and will provide high quality nursing care to patients and their families, based on the Scarborough Health Network (SHN) mission, vision and values. As well, directs and supervises other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards of care. The RN will strive to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient population and workforce. As well, you have the opportunity to work in a variety of programs across both hospitals (Birchmount and General).
Requirements:
•Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
•Current BCLS
•Current ACLS certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
•Successful completion of Coronary Care 1 and 2 or equivalent.
Current acute medical and surgical inpatient experiences
•Recent experience in ICU, CCU, Telemetry or Emergency Department preferred.
•Evidence of sound critical thinking skills and the ability to organize and prioritize patient care needs in and work well in stressful situations
•Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
•Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement
•Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
•Flexible and adaptable regarding assignment locations
•Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues and volunteers and other members of the community and public
•Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
•Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
•Demonstrates excellent work performance and attendance record
