Nestled in the heart of cottage country, just 2 ½ hours north east of Toronto in the Haliburton Highlands, Haliburton Highlands Health Services (HHHS) delivers high-quality health services to residents, cottagers, and visitors to Haliburton County and the surrounding area.

We strive to be leaders in innovative rural health care, and we work closely with local and regional partners to promote wellness and provide access to essential health services, including Primary Care, Hospital (Acute Inpatient and Emergency Care), Long-Term Care, End-of-Life Care, Mental Health & Addictions Services, and Community Support Services.

*Position Scope: *

The Personal Support Worker provides resident care in relation to activities of daily living, quality of life, environment management and continuous communication. S/he has a significant role in promoting health, preventing illness, and helping residents attain and maintain the highest level of health possible in situations in which a resident's condition is relatively stable, less complex and the outcomes of care are predictable.

*Benefits: *

Temporary employees receive 4% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation plus an additional 14% of their hourly rate in lieu of fringe benefits.

*Qualifications and Skills: *

Successful completion of Personal Support Worker program which meets one of the following:

* The vocational standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities,
* The standards established by the National Association of Career Colleges, or
* The standards established by the Ontario Community Support Association;

and Must be a minimum of 600 hours in duration, counting both class time and practical experience time.

* Experience in working with the acutely ill, chronically ill and/or palliative clients preferred
* Understanding of MDS RAI an asset.
* Problem solving
* Organizing own work
* Excellent recording and reporting skills
* Personal care skills
* Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
* CPR

In addition, the successful candidate must be available to work day, evening and night shifts, along with weekends and statutory holidays. An ability to attend work on a consistent basis is also a requirement.

PSW are provided all appropriate PPE including but not limited to: masks, gloves. gowns. face shields if required, scrubs that are washed on site

Experience:
* chronic illness, palliative care: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:
* First Aid and PSW Certification (preferred)
