Occupational Health and Safety Nurse

This role will help FGF to keep team members healthy and safe at work. This will include identifying and helping to mitigate potential hazards in the workplace, including case management for WSIB cases and promotion of health and wellness activities.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Partner with Health and Safety to identify hazards in the workplace and implement preventative and control processes
  • Assist the H&S Team in the implementation and maintenance of a proactive safety and health program to reduce the number of work-related injuries and their associated costs
  • Counsel team members regarding work related illnesses and injuries, provide onsite treatment of medical first aid, and support and champion overall health and wellness issues.
  • Maintain and monitor occupational health-related functions and return to work programs and processes
  • Provide occupational health related training designed to prevent injury and illness by promoting effective management of occupational and non-occupational health issues
  • Assists in the identification and analysis of trends as it relates to work injuries, complaints, hazards...etc.
  • Other duties as required

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. RN required
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in the field of occupational health, health protection or promotion programs
  • Occupational health experience
  • Experience in case management
  • Must have working knowledge of WSIB guidelines
  • Proven facilitation, verbal and written communication skills along with superior interpersonal and organizational skills required to deliver training and coaching to teams and individuals at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment within specified timeframes and where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential
  • Leadership/mentorship experience preferred
