As an integral member of the Medical Day Clinic team, the Registered Nurse is responsible for administering chemotherapy, biotherapy and supportive therapies to patients in the Medical Day Clinic and the completion of comprehensive patient assessments in the oncology physician clinics. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse in good standing required
- Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required
- Must have completion of the palliative care, oncology course or evidence of continuous education and course work in oncology and/or palliative care
- Certificate in Oncology Nursing or working towards the completion of certificate required
- Canadian Nurses Association CON (c) certification or completion within three (3) years required
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning related to oncology/palliative/hematology nursing is required
- Current oncologic and palliative care nursing experience is required
- Knowledge, experience and competence in the management of oncologic and hematologic and other end stage disease processes required
- Knowledge, experience, and competence in managing complex pain and symptoms related to oncologic and non-oncologic disease processes and palliation required
- Must demonstrate psychosocial skills and relevant experience with offering supportive emotional care to the palliative patient and their family/significant others from all cultural backgrounds
- Essential to have knowledge at an advanced level of potential oncologic emergencies that can arise in this patient population and the confidence to handle these emergencies as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrate certification and competency in IV therapy required
- Must be certified in care and management of Central Venous Access Devices, including blood sampling
- Completion of the deSouza chemotherapy/biotherapy course required
- Must also demonstrate familiarity with blood products and protocols used in the treatment of oncology and palliative care patients, including the indication and use of special filters and fluids for transfusions
- Understanding and commitment to meeting health and safety recommendations as recommended by NIOSH, CCO, CANO and other regulatory organizations
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
